United Parcel Service Inc. has stopped the airing of a nationl American televesion ad following Federal express’ Accusation that UPS has falsely armed itself & ranked” the most reliable” package-shipping company.
UPS spokesman Norman Black said that UPS had notifies FedEx that it sahll no longer be airing the ad.
Fedex Spokesman Mary Lane said “We obviously take any competitor claims of superior reliability very seriously.”
In the ad, a UPS guy says that it has been ranked the “Most Reliable” package-shipping company and FedEx says that the ad has been aired more than 500 times. The ads represenaion was based on a November .
FedEx sent a letter to UPS on March 31st and said the the reasearch was unreliable and thatit “does not meet the minimum standards for publication as required by the Federal Trade Commission.”
FedEx sued UPS in federal court in Tennessee on Friday and demanded the ad to Be pulled of the air.
